With less than 24 hours until its Pico C Kickstarter comes to an end, PicoBrew announced the project has successfully surpassed $1.812 million, making it the most successful food Kickstarter campaign. Speaking about the campaign’s huge milestone, Dr. Bill Mitchell, PicoBrew’s CEO, stated:
“Wow! Thank you to all of our Pico Model C backers for helping us make this campaign the number one Food Kickstarter of all time. We couldn’t have done it without you! The support we’ve continued to receive from the Kickstarter community, especially those who have backed us since our very first project, is just incredible.”
Clarissa Redwine, Kickstarter’s Design and Technology Outreach Lead for the West Coast, also commented:
“PicoBrew is one of our favorite creators, bringing round after round of innovative products to the Kickstarter community. We picked the Pico Model C as a Project We Love early on and are thrilled that, with the help of over 4,100 backers, it broke the record for Most Funded campaign in our vibrant Food category.”
As previously reported, PicoBrew described Pico C is a smart craft beer brewing appliance that allows anyone to brew 5L kegs of professional quality craft beer using ingredient-and-recipe PicoPaks from great craft breweries around the world. The company noted that the device builds on the technology created for its big brother, the award-winning Pico Model S but is even easier to use and more affordable. The company also claimed that Pico C is the easiest way to brew fresh craft beer from breweries around the world or custom craft your own brew innovations. Pico C’s features include:
- High-contrast two-line OLED display;
- Brews existing PicoPaks and Freestyle PicoPaks in about 2 hours
- Dishwasher-safe Pico C Keg with a simplified hose connection
As part of the campaign, PicoBrew recently announced that if it achieves $1.812 million by its closing date, all backers pledging $250 or more will receive the new PicoFerm for free, and all backers will gain bragging rights as supporters of the most successful food Kickstarter campaign ever. Other items apart of the Stretch Goal will include:
- Free PicoPak from Mike Hess Brewing 2014 World Beer Cup Gold Winning Habitus Double IPA ($1 million Stretch Goal)
- Free Lemon Kombucha PicoPak ($1.2 million Stretch Goal)
- Built-in sous-vide capabilities (Fully Funded Reward)
