As mentioned in the update, you may “imagine a world free from hate on a social app that recognizes your power to change the world. Imagine a future where you are paid every time you watch an ad, and we unite to save our precious planet.”

Channel 4 Ventures is “a lead investor in our Series B funding round, and believes that WeAre8 is the future of digital media.”

Not only do they “inspire and economically empower people, but [their] technology gives advertisers better results.”

They are “a more cost-efficient, effective and sustainable way for them to deliver their ads to people.” Through their revolutionary technology, people are now “valued and paid by brands directly for their time.”

What’s more, with each ad they watch, “a donation is made to charity, making a positive impact.”

The 8Stage is “a hate-free evolution of social where people get inspired by exclusive content from global talent including Rio Ferdinand, Clare Balding, Tom Daley, Trent Alexander-Arnold and more.”

They have developed their own self serve ad manager “to make it easy for brands to set up and manage their campaigns.”

This enables them to scale their brand and agency partners “in a cost efficient and effective way.”

They deliver “on average 30x better click-through for advertisers than Facebook and clients are resigning to repeat campaigns.”

As noted in the announcement:

“The world is at an imbalance. Social technologies that should have served us, now harm us. At WeAre8, we’ve built a better way that values, pays and empowers people, with a mission to redirect USD 100Billion in advertising revenue away from Facebook and back to people and the planet. And in the process, we’re transforming digital media for advertisers.”

The team further explained:

“How does it work? On WeAre8, every time a brand advertises, they see results above the industry average (>30% average Click Through Rate compared to 0.9% industry average), and 50% of every pound advertisers spend on WeAre8 is shared directly with WeAre8 users, plus 5% to charities and 5% going to a creator fund to fuel shows and collaborations on the 8Stage – a hate-free evolution of the social feed.”

They added:

“Since our 2021 UK launch, we have run campaigns for 20+ brands, secured a distribution agreement with BT/EE and have partnership agreements with some of the largest media agencies. Channel 4 and UKTV (a BBC Studios Company) have collectively invested over $4M in airtime, providing additional reach, and we have plans to scale globally, starting with the US and Australia later this year.”

They also mentioned:

“Incredible talent have already joined the #8Family, including Rio Ferdinand, who are promoting us to millions of fans. In the spirit of bringing economic value back to people, WeAre8 are excited to invite you to join us at this exciting time.”
