Online Investing: Fractional Bond Platform WiseAlpha Preps to Raise Capital on Seedrs

WiseAlpha, an investment platform that provides access to fractional bonds, is preparing to raise growth capital on Seedrs.

Regulated by the UK Financial Conduct Authority, WiseAlpha aims to give smaller investors the opportunity to corporate bonds at a low minimum of £100.  To participate, you need to be a high net-worth individual or self-certified sophisticated investor. WiseAlpha compares its securities offerings to other markets displaying an average return of 10.7% from 2000 to 2019. This contrasts favorably to other asset classes – like peer-to-peer lending.

WiseAlpha reports more than 150 fractional, high-yield bonds denominated in both Euros and British pounds.

WiseAlpha also licenses tech stack to banks and institutions, so old finance and new finance – like neobanks or Wealhtechs – can also offer fractional ond investing.

WiseAlpha reports that it has signed two partnerships, one with Titan Wealth, a fund management/wealth and asset
management business scheduled for the second half of the year, and an unnamed bank partnership expected to go live within the next few months.

The company is working on extending its tech to serve multiple jurisdictions in the not-so-distant future.

Founder of WiseAlpha, Rezaah Ahmad, believes that crowdfunding is one of the most important financial innovations of recent years.

“As a company aiming to innovate the large global corporate lending markets in a similar fashion, we want to build a community of investors who are interested in helping and being part of our journey as we aim to democratise the financial markets. WiseAlpha’s mission is to partner with banks and other financial institutions, enabling them to open up the bond market for their customers. We provide unique technology so that banks can focus on delivering their customers a superior range of products. The demand we are seeing for fixed income is huge and now is the time to deliver for the financial sector.”

The securities offering is currently accepting indications of interest, so details on the investment opportunity are not yet available.
