Deep Web: The Untold Story of Bitcoin and The Silk Road closed this past weekend and the crowdfunding film made goal during the final hours of the campaign. Â Alex Winter, the project creator, is a well known actor, director who may be best known for his roles in films such as Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Lost Boys. Â The film was looking to raise $75,000 and slipped past that amount closing at $78,700 garnering support from 1,222 backers.
Winter’s encouraged supporters during the last days of the campaign promising that,
Whoever pledges the amount that gets us to our goal will receive a personalized video greeting from me! Whatever you want me to say, that allows me to remain clothed and retain a small shred of dignity 🙂
Apparently someone will receive the personalized video.
Alex urged supporters to up their pledge to make goal and if backer comments are an indication of the impact of this request – many came through with additional support. Â Most backers came in at the lower levels but one supporter delivered $5000.00 to the project capturing a reward of being part of the commentary for the film. Â The reward for the signed Lost Boys Poster, available for
$200, did sell out.
The story line for the film covers the dark side of the internet. Â The portion most of us never visit but allegedly represents 96% of the internet. Â Alex previously directed the film “Downloaded” about the Napster revolution. Â Deep Web is expected to premier in 2015.
