Investor Advisory Committee Scheduled to Meet on July 16th

Investor Advisory Committee MissionThe SEC Investor Advisory Committee has scheduled its next meeting for July 16th, from 9:30AM to 3:30PM at the SEC headquarters in Washington, DC. These meetings are open to the public but the SEC also live-streams proceedings on their web site.

The SEC IAC was mandated by Dodd-Frank and was established to represent investors interests – both large and retail investors.  No agenda was yet available for the meeting but in the past the committee has tackled issues such as Accredited Investor definition, Disclosure issues, General Solicitation (Advertising), crowdfunding and more. The committee liaises with the Office of the Investor Advocate to promote issues that benefit investors.  The Office of the Investor Advocate just published its goals for 2016.

10:00-10:05 a.m. Approval of Minutes of Previous Meeting

10:05-10:30 a.m. Discussion of Background Checks as a Means to Address ElderFinancial Abuse (which may include a recommendation)

11:30-12:15 p.m. Shareholder Rights Update Panel

12:15-2:45 p.m. Lunch/Non-Public Administrative Session

2:45-2:50 p.m. Report of Advisory Committee Chair on Committee Matters

2:50-3:30 p.m. Investment Management Panel Discussion-Disclosure of Fees and Risks in Fund Products

3:30 p.m. Adjourn
