Bill Nye Filmmaking Labs Offer Up New Kickstarter Documentary Update

Last week, the Bill Nye Film crew shared some details about the Kickstarter-funded documentary project. The project surfaced on the crowdfunding platform last summer and captured $859,425 from 16,850 backers.

Bill Nye 1According to a new update, the project has met up with various scientists to chat about Nye’s impact on science:

“We’ve had some way cool production trips in the past month. We interviewed evolutionary biologist Jerry Coyne at the University of Chicago about the Evolution vs. Creation debate. While in Chicago, we stopped by the Field Museum to interview the awesome Emily Graslie.

“We filmed with Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson! He and Bill got together over a glass of wine at the Natural History Museum to chew the fat. The wide ranging conversation shifted from wine, space, Carl Sagan, the Betchdel test, philosophy and of course… SCIENCE! The scene was amazing and will surely make an appearance in the film.”

Bill Nye 3The crew also noted that they are currently editing scene by scene. Fans can see a few of the scenes in person at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City on April 23rd. They are to discuss the film’s process and documentary fundraising. They also will have a screening of some clips.

They also noted that they are one of sixteen teams chosen to pitch their film at the Hot Docs Film Forum in Toronto. It is a two-day event that allows pre-selected international projects to present themselves to a roundtable of film leaders.

The Bill Nye Film is set to premiere in June 2017.
