Brief: Pop Star Taylor Swift Donates $5,000 to GoFundMe Campaign Dedicated to Fan in Deadly Car Accident

Last week, music sensation Taylor Swift reportedly donated $5,000 to a GoFundMe campaign that was dedicated to one of her fans, Katie Beth Cater, who passed away in a car accident. The initiative was launched to show love and support her family by helping to cover medical and funeral costs.

keithtaylor_049Taylor donated the funds and wrote:

“Kimi, No words could express how sorry I am for your loss. I know that you will keep Katie’s memory alive. Please know how much I am thinking of you and saying a prayer for your family. All my love, Taylor”

This is notably not the first time Swift has given back to her devoted fans. Last year, Taylor donated $50,000 to two GoFundMe campaigns, one dedicated to one of her dancers and another for Naomi Oakes, to a fan battling leukemia.

At the time of Naomi’s donation, Rob Solomon, GoFundMe CEO, announced the singer’s donation was so generous that it required him and his team to increase the donation limit from $15,000 to $50,000 on the crowdfunding platform. He went on to add:

“What Ms. Swift has done for Naomi and others can inspire the next generation of giving.”

Katie’s campaign, which was launched last week, is nearing its $40,000 funding goal.
