Overfunding: SimplyCook Surpasses £600,000 Goal on Crowdcube & Announces Company Projects

UK startup SimplyCook recently launched its equity crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube to raise £600,000. In less than a month, the company successfully secured its initial goal, thanks to nearly 575 backers.

SimplyCook 5SimplyCook is on a mission to see home cooking reinvented. the company is looking to be the highest rated online recipe kit startup in the UK by helping thousands of its customers to cook new meals every week.

The company provides flavor ingredients, sourced from all over the world & blended by our chefs, alongside simple 20 minute recipes. Each of SimplyCook’s box is designed to help customers cook 4 exciting, restaurant quality meals at home. Each delivery costs just £8.99 and all the customer has to do is add 3-5 fresh items from their fridge or weekly shop to cook each of the 4 meals.

Each SimplyCook Box contains:

  • 4 x 20 min recipe cards
  • 4 x flavor ingredient kits (each ingredient kit contains 3 flavor blends, or pots, with as many as 18 ingredients blended in each pot)

SimplyCook currently ships over 50,000 kits per month, customers have enjoyed over 900,000 meals, and the company has averaged 115% quarter on quarter growth since starting in summer 2013.

During a recent update, the SimplyCook team revealed more details about its improvements:

  1. SimplyCook 3They put live some changes to prevent customers gaming the system and attaining multiple discounted boxes and we’re already seeing good results.
  2. They’re also continuing to tackle the ‘choice on the 1st box’ problem. They have a new project, now at design stage, that will ask people for their food preferences up front – so that the box we give them is specific to them.

They also discussed SimplyCook’s new mobile app:

“We now have 100 early users of our mobile app. This is really exciting as we believe the app will be one of the best retention plays we have in our locker. Imagine a feed of recipes which sync with your store cupboard providing you with a feed of what to cook next – these customers need never wonder what to cook next again with a SimplyCook subscription and our mobile app. We’re all very excited about this!”
